MIND SET

"A Terminal Disease"

Herein are four (4) conditions that works together to produce a "mind set" which prevent individuals in the church from accepting new light and truth.

1. THE LAODICEAN CONDITION [Revelation 3:14-22]: "I have all the truth and enough light to take me through to the end."

"Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105

"We must not for a moment think that there is no more light, no more truth to be given us. We are in danger of becoming careless, by our indifference losing the consecrating power of truth, and composing ourselves with the thought, "I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing." While we must hold fast to the truths which we have already received, we must not look with suspicion upon any new light that Yah may send." 1

"No one should claim that he or she has all the light there is for the Creator’s people. YAH will not tolerate this. He has said, "I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it." Even if all our leading men should refuse light and truth, that door will still remain open. The Master will raise up men who will give the people the message for this time." 2

"The light we have received upon the third angel’s message is the true light. The mark of the beast is exactly what it has been proclaimed to be. *Not all in regard to this matter is yet understood, nor will it be understood until the unrolling of the scroll" 3

2. ALLEGIANCE TO CHURCH AUTHORITY: "If the church [congregation] does not accept this message, then I should not be concerned with it."

"Even if all our leading men should refuse light and truth, that door will still remain open. Yah will raise up men who will give the people the message for this time." 4

"And those who did not search the Scriptures for themselves were content to accept conclusions that were in accordance with their desires. By argument, sophistry, the traditions of the Fathers, and the authority of the church, many endeavored to overthrow the truth." 5

"The congregation [church] cannot measure herself by the world, nor by the opinion of men, nor by what she once was. Her faith and her position in the world as they now are, must be compared with what they would have been if her course had been continually onward and upward. The congregation will be weighed in the balances of the tabernacle. If her moral character and spiritual state do not correspond with the benefits and blessings Yah has conferred upon her, she will be found wanting. The light has been shining clear and definite upon her pathway, and the light of 1882 calls her to an account. If her talents are unimproved, if her fruit is not perfect before Yah (the I AM), if her light has become darkness, she is indeed found wanting. The knowledge of our state as Omnipotence views it, seems to be hidden from us." 6

"What would the Savior do if He should come to us now as He did to the Hebrews? He would have to do a similar work in clearing away the rubbish of tradition and ceremony." 7

"Multitudes, trusted implicitly to their pastors, refused to listen to the warning; and others, though convinced of the truth, dared not confess it, lest they should be "put out of the temple." The message which Yah had sent for the testing and purification of the assembly revealed all too surely how great was the number who have set their affections on this world rather than upon The Mashayah*." 8

3. INTELLECTUAL PRIDE: "We have universities and highly educated men researching the facts. Surely if there were new truths to be uncovered they would be the ones to do it."

"Now pride and envy closed the door against the light. If the reports brought by the shepherds and the wise men were credited, they would place the priests and rabbis in a most unenviable position, disapproving their claim to be the exponents of the truth of Yah. These learned teachers would not stoop to be instructed by those whom they termed heathen. [or laity] It could not be they said, that Yah had passed them by, to communicate with ignorant shepherds or uncircumcised gentiles." 9

"The Creator requires of His people works of faith and obedience corresponding to the blessings and privileges bestowed. Obedience requires a sacrifice and involves a cross; and this is why so many of the professed followers of The Mashayah refused to receive the light from heaven, and, like the Hebrews of old, knew not the time of their visitation. {Luke 19:44} Because of their pride and unbelief the Master passed them by and revealed His truth to those who, like the shepherds of Bethlehem and the Eastern Magi, had given heed to all the light they had received." 10

"We are not to think, as did the Pharisees, that our own ideas and opinions are infallible; nor with the papists, that certain individuals are the sole guardians of truth and knowledge, that men have no right to search the Scriptures for themselves, but must accept the explanations given by the fathers of the church. We should not study the Bible for the purpose of sustaining our preconceived opinions, but with the single object of learning what Yah has said." 11

"...The reason why He [Yah] does not often choose men of learning and high position to lead out in reform movements is that they trust to their creeds, theories, and theological systems, and feel no need to be taught of Yah." 12

"The message of salvation is communicated to men through human agencies. But the Hebrews had sought to make a monopoly of the truth which is eternal life. They had hoarded the living manna, and it had turned to corruption. The religion, which they tried to shut up to themselves, became an offense. They robbed Yah of His honor, and defrauded the world by a counterfeit of the glad tidings. They had refused to surrender themselves to YAH for the salvation of the world, and they became agents of Satan for its destruction." 13

"With amazement the heavenly messengers beheld the indifference of that people whom Yah had called to communicate to the world the light of eternal truth. The Hebrew nation had been preserved as a witness that The Mashayah was to be born of the seed of Abraham and of David’s line; yet they knew not that His coming was now at hand. In the temple the morning and evening offering daily pointed to the Lamb of Yah; yet even here was no preparation to receive Him. The priests and teachers of the nation knew not that the greatest event of the ages was about to take place....Above the hills of Bethlehem are gathered an innumerable throng of angels. They wait the signal to declare the glad news to the world. Had the leaders in Yasharon* been true to their trust, they might have shared the joy of heralding the birth of The Savior. But now they are passed by." 14 [History is repeated in the truth of His Eternal Name!]

"Precious light is to shine forth from the Word of Yah, and let no one presume to dictate what shall or what shall not be brought before the people in the messages of enlightenment that HE SHALL SEND, and so quench the Spirit of Yah. Whatever may be his position of authority, no one has a right to shut away the light from the people. When a message comes in the NAME of Yah to His people, no one may excuse himself from an investigation of its claims. No one can afford to stand back in an attitude of indifference and self-confidence, and say: "I know what is truth. I am satisfied with my position. I have set my stakes, and I will not be moved away from my position, whatever may come. I will not listen to the message of this messenger; for I know that it cannot be truth." It is from pursuing this very course that the popular churches were left in partial darkness, and that is why the messages of heaven have not reached them." 15

"Now is the time when we should closely connect with Yah, that we may be hid when the fierceness of His wrath is poured upon the sons of men. We have wandered away from the old landmarks. Let us return. "If Yah be the Almighty serve Him; if Baal, serve him. Which side will you be on?" 16

"But beware of rejecting that which is truth. The great danger with our people has been that of depending upon men and making flesh their arm. Those who have not been in the habit of searching the Bible for themselves, or weighing evidence, have confidence in the leading men and accept the decisions they make; and thus many will reject the very messages Yah sends to His people, if these leading brethren do not accept them." 17

4.    FEAR OF THE CONSEQUENCES:

"I cannot preach this message because",

  1. "I might lose my job"
  2. "The glad tidings is to be carried forward by aggressive warfare, in the midst of opposition, peril, loss and suffering. But those who do this work are only following in their Master’s steps." 18

  3. "The brethren might throw me out of the church"
  4. "But as ministers and religious leaders decided against the advent doctrine [begun in the 1830s] and desired to suppress all agitation of the subject, they not only opposed it from the pulpit, but denied their members the privilege of attending preaching upon the second advent, or even of speaking of their hope in the social meetings of the church. Thus the believers found themselves in a position of great trial and perplexity. They loved their churches and were loath to separate from them; but as they saw the testimony of Yah’s word suppressed and their right to investigate the prophecies denied they felt that loyalty to Yah forbid them to submit. Those who sought to shut out the testimony of Yah’s word they could not regard as constituting the assembly of The Mashayah, "the pillar and ground of the truth." Hence they felt themselves justified in separating from their former connection." 19 [History is repeated in the doctrine of His precious name]

"As these bodies depart further and further from the truth, and ally themselves more closely with the world, the difference between the two classes will widen, and it will finally result in separation. The time will come when those who love Yah supremely can no longer remain in connection with such as are "lovers of pleasures more than lovers of Yah; having a form of righteousness, but denying the power thereof." 20

  5. "I might lose my following"
  6. "Some have feared that if in even a single point they acknowledge themselves in error, other minds would be led to doubt the whole theory of truth. Therefore, they have felt that investigation should not be permitted, that it would tend to dissension and disunion...If there are those whose faith in Yah’s Word will not stand the test of an investigation of the Scriptures, the sooner they are revealed the better; for then the way will be opened to show them their error." 21

"When a doctrine is presented that does not meet our minds, we should go to the Scriptures, seek the Master in prayer, and give no place for the enemy to come in with suspicion and prejudice. We should never permit the spirit to be manifested that arraigned the priests and rulers against the Redeemer of the world. They complained that HE DISTURBED THE PEOPLE, and they wished He would let them alone; for HE CAUSED PERPLEXITY AND DISSENSION. Yah sends light to us to prove what manner of spirit we are of. We are not to deceive ourselves." 22

  7. "I cannot witness with this message because it is not popular."

"Yah works through those who hear and obey His voice, those who will, if need be, speak unpalatable truths, those who do not fear to reprove popular sins. The reason why He does not often choose men of learning and high position to lead out in reform movements is that they trust to their creeds, theories, and theological systems, and feel no need to be taught of Yah. Only those who have a personal connection with the Source of wisdom are able to understand or explain the Scriptures." 23

After the ‘Mind Set’ has taken affect, the professed believer then must justify his position to others. To justify a mind set condition means that the believer must now convince others that his response to this message is correct.

This convincing of ones self may take place in several ways:

First: He will begin to search the books to find evidence that will disapprove this new message.

"We should not study the Bible for the purpose of sustaining our preconceived opinions, but with the single object of learning what Yah has said." 24

"Who is among you that fears Yah, that obeys the voice of His servant, that walks in darkness, and has not light? Let him trust in THE NAME OF Yah, and stay upon his Mighty One."

"By man, the words which The Savior sent will be rejected and the words that man may speak will be received as light and truth." 25

"Their opposers could bring no arguments against the powerful reasons offered. Yet the anger of the churches was kindled; they were determined not to listen to evidence, and to shut the testimony out of the churches, so that others could not hear it. Those who dared not withhold from others the light which Yah had given them, were shut out of the churches; but the Savior was with them, and they were joyful in the light of His countenance." 26

Second: He verbalizes all the mind set conditions:

a) We have all the truth we need to take us through.

b) The church does not accept it, therefore it cannot be truth.

c) Our University theologians have not established it.

d) I cannot preach or witness with this message because it is not popular with the world.

"But truths that would place them at variance with the world were not welcome to many who claimed to be followers of The Mashayah." 27

Third: He will attempt to discredit the messenger in order to call the message false.

"We should beware of indulging the spirit which controlled the Pharisees. They would not learn of YASHA, because His explanation of the Scriptures did not agree with their ideas; therefore they became spies upon His track, "laying wait for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, that they might accuse Him." Let us not bring upon ourselves the fearful denunciation of the Savior’s words, "Woe unto you, lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge: you entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in you hindered." 28

"There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death". Proverbs 14:12.

The rules for testing truth have long been set before us in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. If you do not follow this counsel, then I am afraid you are hopelessly "MIND SET".

THE LAST DAYS

"The prophet of Yah [Danayil] declares that in the last days knowledge shall be increased. There are new truths to be revealed to the humble seeker. The teachings of Yah’s word are to be freed from the errors and superstition with which they have been encumbered. Doctrines that are not condoned by the Scriptures have been widely taught, and many have honestly accepted them; but when the truth is revealed, it becomes the duty of every one to accept it. Those who allow worldly interests, desire for popularity, or pride of opinion, to separate them from the truth, must render an account to Yah for their neglect." 29

"The Bible has accumulated and bound up together its treasures of THIS LAST GENERATION. All the great events and solemn transactions of Old Testament history have been, and are, repeating themselves in the assemblies [church] in these LAST DAYS...There the whole accumulated truths are presented in force to us that we may profit by their teachings. We are under the influence of the whole." 30

"In the time of the end every Infinite institution is to be restored. The breach made in the Law at the time the Sabbath was changed by man, is to be repaired." 31

Do you need an excuse? Try this.

We have always believed that his name was "Jesus", our fathers believed it, and many good and pious men have died happy while believing in the name Jesus. If they were right, so are we. The pronunciation of this new name would throw us out of harmony with the world, and we would have no influence over them. What can a little company believing in the name of Yasha * hope to accomplish against all the world who believe that His name is "Jesus?"

It was by similar arguments that the Hebrews endeavored to justify their rejection of The Mashayah. Their fathers had been accepted of the Almighty in presenting the sacrificial offerings, and why could not the children find salvation in pursuing the same course? So, in the time of Luther, papists reasoned that true "Christians" had died in the Catholic faith, and therefore that religion was sufficient for salvation. Such reasoning would prove an effectual barrier to all advancement in religious faith or practice." 32

"I seldom weep, but now I find my eyes blinded with tears; they are falling upon my paper as I write. It may be that ere long all prophesying among us will be at an end, that the voice which has stirred the people may no longer disturb their carnal slumber." 33
